The Academic system

Academic institutions function differently from universities in the United States. The specifics vary from one institution to another. You may encounter differences in things like how Add/Drop works, how assignments graded and weighted, how professors interact with students, how placement tests work, how tests are weighted in the final grade, etc. We've provided information below to help to get students prepare for the different academic experiences they will have on CIS Abroad's programs.

Attendance policy

For Semester students, students have two unexcused absences, and for every one after that, students will lose 3 percentage points from their final grade.

For January-term and summer terms, students only get one unexcused absence, and for every other absence after that, they will also be penalized 3 percentage points from their final grade.

Add/Drop Policy

Changes to the number of credits and courses can be made prior to arrival as well as during add/drop on-site.

For semester students, the Add/drop period is during the first week of classes. For January term, Maymester or Summer students, the add/drop is during the first two days of classes.

Transcripts

Sant'Anna Institute is accredited through Jacksonville University (JU). Students will receive their transcript approximately two weeks after program end date. JU only provides electronic transcripts, so CIS Abroad staff will send instructions to students on how to order and send transcripts to their home institutions.
